On April 4, 2023 our community came together to increase awareness of Child Abuse Prevention month. We gathered outside the Galveston County Justice Center and lit (turned on) candles and placed them around the fountain, representing the children in our community that have experienced abuse and neglect.
The Honorable Judge Darring, Chad Smith of Galveston Co-Care, and our own Connie Ricketts addressed those gathered with words of inspiration and determination. Torrina Harris recited an original poem and children’s choir Fanfare Music Academy’s angelic voices filled the air. We are so thankful for their dedication and to all those that were in attendance.
