12 New CASA Volunteers Sworn in to Advocate for Children in Galveston County

On February 5, 2026, we celebrated a powerful milestone for children in our community. 12 new CASA of Galveston County volunteers were officially sworn in by the Honorable Judge Jamie Rawlinson. Since then, all 12 new advocates have accepted their assignments and have begun advocating for children experiencing the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.
Becoming a CASA volunteer is no small commitment. It consists of weeks of training preparation and an intentional responsibility of service. It takes compassion, dedication, and empathy.
Through every training session, we watched 12 individuals walk into our CASA office ready and eager to learn, mostly coming directly from already long and busy workdays. These individuals were investing in CASA advocacy giving up their evenings to learn, grow, and become a voice for children in need.
Their journey to their swear in ceremony wasn’t without any challenges. Along the way, they faced small hurdles such as a winter storm, technology difficulties, and being the first class to go through a newly updated curriculum. However, their determination could not keep them from continuing their journey.
We are honored to welcome these amazing 12 ladies to CASA of Galveston County and excited for the impact they will have on the lives of the children and families they are serving!
If you have wanted to become a CASA volunteer but wondered whether you could while juggling a full-time job and a home life, these volunteers are proof that it is possible.
