Parental Alienation Training 3/1

March 1st, 9:30-11:30am

When a child begins to reject a parent due to a high conflict divorce or custody dispute he is impacted well before the case is decided in court. Although often difficult to identify, Parental Alienation is a form of domestic violence and psychological child abuse. Early recognition and intervention of parental alienation and estrangement by Professional therapists, CPS investigators and attorneys is extremely important. This workshop will investigate:

  • The most current research concerning parental alienation.
  • How CPS caseworkers, attorneys and mediators can influence the escalation of parental alienation.
  • What happens to a child’s psychological and brain development when he/she is caught between high conflict parents.
  • Intervention options to help these families move forward with the least amount of impact on their children and the family system.
  • Short and long term effects of parental alienation, including generational affects.
  • Parental alienation is considered domestic violence and psychological abuse.

Featuring Chris Turner, MSW, JD Mediator and Mary Alvarez, PHD Psychologist.
