Volunteer Spotlight: Rayna

Meet Rayna, a volunteer advocate with CASA of Galveston County. Read about her journey to become a volunteer and why it means so much to her.

Treating myself to coffee and a pastry led me to become a CASA volunteer!  Actually, I had heard about CASA three years earlier from my friend, a CASA in West Texas. That morning in the coffee shop, I saw a small poster about an informational meeting for CASA of Galveston.  I decided to attend and realized then that was something I could do and wanted to do.

It has been a privilege for me to be a CASA volunteer.  I’ve always liked to spend time with and talk to children.  They are so creative, honest, and enthusiastic.  “Every child is a gift from God”, and each one deserves a safe, stable, and loving home so that child can become the person  he/she was meant to be.

As CASA volunteers, we do all we can to help make that possible.

The greatest rewards for me as a CASA this year have been the smiles of my two children, their stories about Marvel characters, birthdays, Peppa Pig, friends, and the amazing progress they each have made these past months.  These children will always have a special place in  my heart!
