My name is Nancy Sims and I am a CASA. As a devout Catholic, I was inspired to reach out to CASA by the words and example of Pope Francis – “It is not enough to say we are Christians. We must live the faith, not only with our words, but with our actions.”
I attended an information session at the end of 2019, was introduced to my girls in October of 2020, and have been working with the family since that time. The experience has been invigorating, disappointing, painful, and joyful and I have encountered some amazing individuals whose simple goal is to improve the lives of those they encounter.
My favorite part of being a CASA is interacting with the children and parents as well as the seeing the ingenuity of the judge on the case. While the system is by no means perfect, we as advocates can provide hope, support, friendship, and guidance to those who need it most.
