Advocate Spotlight: Stuart

I have been a CASA volunteer since September 2018. After I retired and my youngest child went off to college, I wanted to use the extra spare time to serve the youth in the community. I found out about CASA through a newspaper advertisement and discovered it was a great way to help children who really need someone fighting for them. I believe a CASA provides the constant support that’s really needed for children in CPS care. Caseworkers, foster parents, even the parents and other family members come and go, but a CASA is always there, advocating for what’s best for the child. Being a CASA has been a great experience for me and Connie, CASA Galveston County Executive Director, and her staff have been so supportive. In my free time I like to spend time with family, go backpacking and camping, umpire baseball and root for the Astros.
