Advocate Spotlight: Janessa

Janessa Simpton
In 2019, I felt drawn to help somewhere, in some way as I was reading James (1:27) talking about taking care of widows and orphans. My brother was adopted and turned out to be a wonderful person, so naturally I was drawn to CASA to serve children in foster care. One particular memory I have from when I first started volunteering, was seeing God provide a single young mom a beautiful newer bike for her to get to her job and seeing the baby kept with mom! Advocating for children and teens does not require as much time a month as you may think! I work full time at a chemical plant in La Porte and have a family. As most communication is done by email and the monthly visits, I probably spend 5-10 hours a month advocating for my teen. It is extremely rewarding and worth the hours!
